3 New Ways to Cook Eggs

Eggs are without a doubt one the most famous breakfast staples around the world.  There are a few main ways that people generally cook eggs, like fried, boiled, poached or scrambled, but if you are looking for new ways to enjoy your eggs, then this is the article for you.

Baked Egg in Avocado

First up is one of our favourites, the egg in avocado.  When you remove the stone from an avocado you are left with a perfect egg sized hole, so dropping an egg in and roasting it is a no brainer.

How to do it:

  • Preheat the oven to 200C
  • Cut the avocado in half and remove the stone
  • Remove a little bit of the avocado flesh from each half so that you have space for the eggs
  • Crack the egg into the avocado
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • Bake the eggs for around 15 minutes or until it is cooked to your preference

Croque Madame Sandwich

The famous croque monsieur is a classic French sandwich with cheese and ham.  The croque madam is served with an egg on top, and is so called because of women’s hats.

How to do it:

  • Toast or fry your bread in a skillet
  • Layer the cheese and ham on the bread to make a sandwich
  • Cook in the skillet for about 1 minute
  • Remove the sandwich from the pan
  • Fry the eggs to your preference then place on top of the sandwich to serve

Eggs In Baked Potatoes

These can be a great addition to a meal or an excellent snack.

How to do it:

  • Bake the potatoes until they are just soft inside
  • When they are done, cut them in half and scoop out a small cavity
  • Place a teaspoon of butter on the potato
  • Crack the egg into the potato cup
  • Bake for around 10 minutes or until the eggs are cooked to your preference
