Phew…the move is nearly over! Started on Friday at noon and didn’t stop until Saturday evening. Sunday was spent tying up loose ends, installing shelving, etc. More deets and pics to come. But in honor of now having an official Los Angeles address, check out the atmospheric drones of You Are Listening to Los Angeles. This website pairs random Sound Cloud selections of minimalist ambient drones and music with the LAPD dispatch radio. It’s pretty trippy hearing crackling voices and police codes called out over a haunting soundtrack. In a sense, it’s a live performance as you’re never going to hear the same thing twice since the police blotter is live and dynamic – you may be the only person to ever experience a particular moment with the dispatch and soundtrack. Which I think is pretty rad.
