Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. We spent most of the weekend running errands and planning meals for the week ahead. I also finally got a chance to snap a few shots of our new coffee table arrangement furnished by Christmas gifts from my mom, sister, and aunt. Check out a close up after the jump: Continue reading…

PEOPLE. The Ace Hotel in Portland is rad. It was everything we hoped and dreamed it would be. It was so cool to come “home” to a place that kinda actually felt a lot like home… especially after trudging around in the rain every day. Check this place out!

Hey all! Work has been super crazy for both Jess and me, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up anytime soon. Just coming up for a breath to show off our rad new Craigslist find from last weekend. We scored this vintage school desk for $30 from a chill dude in the Palms neighborhood of LA who also happened to have a great drought tolerant garden and a welcoming tabby cat. He had a bunch more if anyone is interested. This guy bought an entire community college auditorium’s worth. At $30 a pop, he must have pulled them from a dumpster or just had to pay someone to load them – ‘cuz that’s pretty dang cheap by LA c-list standards. Each desk is unique and comes with the typical bubble gum and idle carving patina. There are also two distinct breeds: with and without the half desk. Hopefully someday one of our cubs will enjoy using it.

I’m loving every little detail of this Danish family’s charming, colorful home. Turns out I actually posted about their living room here, but it wasn’t till earlier today that I came across the rest of the images over on My Scandinavian Retreat. Pippi has the most amazing collection of homes, cabins, and cottages in Norway and Sweden… if you’re a fan of Scandinavian design you should definitely be adding MSR to your daily reads. PLUS her daughter has the cutest nursery! Check out the rest of this lovely little home after the jump.

Not that we don’t love our cowhide… but I can’t get these rugs out of my head! I spotted that first one over on Junia‘s blog and I’m obsessed. And the other one? Anthropologie has it, and every time I go in there I have to go “visit” the rug. I spend a minute or two just staring at it, imagining how awesome it would look in our apartment. Maybe someday when we have a bigger place… and, you know, $1000 lying around.

…from vacation, that is. Denver was on its best behavior for us. Clear sunny skies, awesome food, and mega fun times with the fam. It was Curt’s parents’ first time to Colorado and I think they kinda loved it!

I’m so excited to go to Denver next week to see my pregnant sis! She and her husband just moved into a cute little 1920s house and they’ve been super busy moving and getting everything ready, but the nursery is still completely bare. Heather and Michael are both really outdoorsy, so I’ve been doing a ton of research and finding inspiration pics for a “vintage outdoorsy” feel… lots of natural woods, soft earthy colors, and of course the bear print! These rooms are two of my favorites. I mean, I want to move into one of those rooms. All I know is Jonah is going to be one very lucky baby!

Had an 11-hour workday today, and right now all I want to do is take a soak in this tub. I love how dramatic the all-black bathroom is… I bet it would be kind of like a deprivation chamber. Which would be kind of awesome.

p.s. no clue where the image is from… it’s been in our home inspiration folder for a long, long time.

So yeah, Pendleton. I’ve been trying to incorporate some Native American (navajo rug)/Middle Eastern patterns (kilim) into our home for over a year now. I’ve just never found the colors I’m looking for at a price I’m willing to pay. Portland’s Pendleton Woolen Mills is prospering from the heritage brand revival taking place here in the states. This family owned mill has been producing wool blankets inspired by ancient Native American patterns for 140 years. Some of their patterns are really beautiful, and some are just a little too rustic for me, but that’s ok. Continue reading…

Hilda Grahnat of Forever Is Today has an awesome apartment in Sweden filled with beautiful vintage furniture that she has thrifted or received as hand-me-downs from her parents and grandparents. It sure dosen’t hurt that Hilda also happens to be an awesome photog. Ugh, Scandinavians and their epic eye for design. I wish American interior design didn’t commonly include NASCAR commemorative plates and La-Z-Boys. Wah Wah Wahhhhh…Check out more pics I lifted from Hilda’s blog after the jump: Continue reading…
