Poor Beans. He just refuses to learn his lesson. He’s had a couple run-ins with Curt’s parents’ cat, Sushi, but yesterday he marched right into her territory–again–and got a claw to the face. A little backstory on Sushi: she’s a little crazy straight up psycho. She used to be a nice tame house cat, but a couple years ago she had a bad reaction to some flea medicine, didn’t sleep for almost a week, and had a near brush with death. She hasn’t been the same since. Now she hunts rodents in the back yard and dissects them with a scientist’s precision- for fun. Anyway, back to Beans. He’s got a small scratch in his eye, a swollen eyelid, and a very bruised ego. But $200 and one cone of shame later, he’s recovering just fine. Maybe now he’ll think twice about wandering into the laundry room…

Here’s the hilarious thing: he should really be wearing the smaller sized cone, because he’s so short, but it wouldn’t fit over his huge head! The large cone had a wide enough opening, but he kept tripping over it!

Poor little dude’s just not his usual goofy playful self, but he’s getting a lot of love and attention (and couch privileges) so he should be back to normal in no time.

Our dog Beans makes the cutest pig noises when he’s happy. He snorts and oinks! It’s like we have this little mutant animal living in our house. Which is awesome.

Hey y’all! How was your weekend? We split our time between OC and LA, family one day and friends the next. We’re going pescatarian for the month of June (meaning no meat or poultry, just fish/shellfish), so we got some yummy sandwiches at A Market in Newport Beach on Saturday. Mine had goat cheese with a bunch of veggies; Curt’s was a classic tuna sandwich. Yummy! A Market is a superbly curated little spot. Aside from all the gourmet meats, cheeses, wines, etc., they sell stuff that’s just plain cool. We finally scored some of those Whiskey Stones that we put on our wedding registry but didn’t get. Those beautiful strawberries are not from A Market; they’re from Whole Foods. They were just so darn pretty that I made Curt take a nice picture of them.

And we took some portraits of Beans!!! He’s got a ton of personality but he’s very camera-shy… we’re working on it.
