I’m loving this video and song by the unsigned San Diego band, Dirty Gold. Anytime I get to watch Endless summer is a good time. Its freaking November people! This year is screaming by.
We’re back! And PDX did not disappoint. Despite some dreary weather, we had so much fun exploring and shopping and eating… mostly eating. There are plenty of posts to come, but here’s a little sneak peek for now… look at all those beautiful fall colors!
So I gotta get this post out before the flood of Portland posts breaks loose.
So when Bill from Street Gourmet LA declared Mexicali Taco & Co the best and only true carne asada gig in LA, I took note and knew I needed to hit up this nocturnal pop-up stand in the shadow of the Hwy 101/110 interchange.
I highly recommend reading Bill’s post about the state of carne asada in LA and his break down of all the scrumptious dishes served by Javier and Esdras. You’ll simultaneously learn something and get very hungry. You can check out our adventure after the jump. Continue reading…
Beautiful shoes and a beautiful video. I wish I could say the same for our fair city where these styling Esquivel Shoes are made. And they ain’t cheap kiddies.
As I mentioned, I’m headed to Portland for work on Monday. Jess will be joining me on Wednesday and we’re staying until Saturday evening as a belated anniversary present. We need advanced recon. Here’s the Google map I’ve compiled so far. What else do we need to see!?! Jenn over at I Art U has hooked us up pretty nicely, but I want to hear from the rest of you lurkers, all 45 of you. Scout team GO! Breakfast, lunch and din din por favor.
Hey-o! So you know you’re slackin’ on posting when people email you wishing you well on your imaginary vacation. So no, Jess and I haven’t left LA – yet (next week is PDX time!). We’ve just been super busy with our respective work.
I’ve finally crawled out from under a rock to show off this rad chair by the Japanese design studio Nendo. I really think their mantra of “Giving people a small ‘ ! ‘ moment.” is exemplifed in the Thin Black Lines chair. I love how from various vantage points the chair is transformed to take up distinctly different amounts of visual space.
We’ve got family comin’ in from out of town tomorrow for the weekend then off to Portland on Monday, so things will probably be pretty quiet ’round here until the end of the month. Although, I might bust out an old “Spooky Mix” made last year for all y’all next week. Stay tuned.
I’m totally digging this series by the international graphic design studio Dowling Duncan. These are the same peeps that got a lot of bloggy love recently for their US currency redesign. I love how you just get enough of each iconic San Fran landmark – super smart. Check out the rest of this series after the jump: Continue reading…
There’s really no excuse for bad commercials, or advertising in general. Yet, everyday I’m bombarded by complete and utter garbage. I don’t care if the product is complete crap – I’m sure there’s someone out there that can make an awesome TV spot for a Snuggie. I just hate seeing garbage slung at me and knowing that someone, somewhere was in a office and went, “eh, good enough.”
And I don’t really mean to sound like a douche, but in a hyper-globalized world where I can get anything from anywhere, I expect marketers to be bending over backwards to impress me with their wares. But then again, I know they really aren’t trying to talk to me most of the time anyway. I’m not their target segment. I’m an outlier. So humphhhh!
Anyway, here are three pseudo-commercials that do more than just sling a product, they provide insight into the brand’s experience, lifestyle and aesthetic.
We got married exactly one year ago today. Look how giddy we were when we signed our marriage certificate! It’s been the most amazing year and I’m so grateful to have the husband I have. Here are some of my favorite shots from our wedding day…
Social trends and creative mavens have always been a fascination of mine and I’m pretty excited for this new documentary by the Parisian branding and creative agency R+I Creative.
Press Release:
“INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends & creativity become contagious today in music and fashion.
Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.”
