Nice Rack.
Get your mind outta the gutter! I’m talking about this awesome reclaimed walnut coat rack from Canoe. I like that you can customize it by adding pieces and rearranging them however you want. Pretty neat. Via Remodelista.

SF based photographer Amiee Brodeur has some pretty rad shots. I’m totally diggin’ her site specific installations, particularly this dazzling set of mirrors on a brooding and deserted beach. These installation pieces appear to be the brainchild of Michael Barker and are forever immortalized by Aimee and her deft camera skillz. See more installations and other great stills after the jump: Continue reading…
I envy Chris. I cannot crack the code of watercolors. Every few years I dig out my watercolors and say, “This is it. I’m gonna do this. I’m gonna beat these lil’ tubes and tray of water and I will be their master and they. will. obey.” About an hour later the table is all wet and I pack my crap up, admitting the fact that the coup de watercolors have overtaken their benevolent leader. The most recent uprising was last January. It was not pretty.
Anyway, back to Chris Ballasiotes. He rocks. He’s a regular Cesar Milan with them rowdy watercolors. I’m really feeling his handmade typography, organic lines, and mixed media work. Check out more of his amazing work after the jump: Continue reading…
Hot tip from Slim Magee. Check out this woderfully creative, and for some reason -Â poignant, film from Will Hoffman and Daniel Mercadante to accompany Radiolab’s Words episode. This film explores our visual association with words and their connection to our inner thoughts and emotions. BTW, Radiolab is legit. Check it out.

Look at us! Such babies! I hope y’all don’t mind if I get a little mushy on you, but I just had to share this. When I was staying at my mom’s place in Denver this past weekend, I came across a bunch of old pictures of us… and our senior yearbook. Here’s what Curt wrote:
While Jess was out of town, I headed south to the OC for the weekend. June gloom never got the message that it’s August and it rudely shows up to our summer party every few days. Last Friday was no exception. Saturday morning was Dawn Patrol (5:30am) and surfing at the pier – or at least that was the intent. For someone who hasn’t surfed since he was eight, no dice. But it was still fun. My mom also passed along some more beautiful treasures from my late grandmother that went straight to the new shelves. I also made a little succulent arrangement for a friend’s birthday. Continue reading…
I’ve been on a real sandwich kick lately. In a way, they’re the perfect food… appropriate for any meal of the day, endlessly versatile, and one of the only foods where you could very easily cover all the food groups (think about that for a sec… that is cool). So yesterday when I was wrapping up my Denver trip, my sister and I–with baby Jonah in tow–stopped into Which ‘Wich for lunch. They have a really rad thing goin’ on and I really hope someone opens a franchise in L.A.! Their ordering system is really clever: walk in, grab a bag, mark it up with a sharpie, and hand it to the sandwicharista behind the counter. I saved my bag so I could show it to you… I went with a classic Italian sandwich and it was delicious. So, soooo yummy.

P.S. I guess this sandwich obsession is not a new thing? I’ve posted about sandwiches quite a bit on GBM.
P.P.S. If you’re visiting from i art u, hi! Jenn is awesome and we know her readers are too, so we’re excited you stopped by!
Kickin’ off the week with a new mixtape. I hope you had a nice weekend. With my fair skinned beauty of a wife away for the weekend, I tried to spend as much time at the beach and in the sun as possible. Continue reading…
Alright, I know Curt just gave you three videos to watch, but have y’all seen this commercial? To be honest I’ve never been a huge fan of Bono or U2, but hey at least he’s using his celebrity to do some humanitarian good. And I really like that they took a simple, memorable concept and had fun with it. Pretty creative. You can watch the trailer for The Lazarus Effect, the documentary on HIV/Aids produced by Spike Jonze, here.

This video is RIDICULOUS! This video is shot on one breath of air. Guillaume Nery, the world champion free diver featured, is a BAMF.
Jazz = Honda Fit in Europe.
