Well, we’re almost done recapping our Baja food adventure (if you missed the first few posts, they’re here, here, and here)… but we couldn’t leave out our tour of Baja’s wine country, a beautiful area nestled in Ensenada’s Valle de Guadalupe. Our Sunday afternoon adventure in wine country was the perfect complement to our fish taco breakfast (and fish taco lunch). There’s nothing like a little wine and cheese to bring up the class level after you’ve noshed on street food all day. Balance is the key, am I right?
On our way out to the Valle de Guadalupe, we made a quick pit stop at Cremeria Los Globos for a few different kinds of bread and cheese. The sweet ladies working there graciously doled out samples and we left with a few big chunks of cheese and a couple loaves of bread.
Next, we stopped by Viña de Liceaga for a wine tasting, which included four wines and a chocolate grappa…. chocolate. We didn’t get a picture of it, but here’s a shot of their traditional grappa. I took one tiny sip but that was all I could do. It burns like no other.
Our last stop was the Emeve winery. It was a beautiful family-owned vineyard and we got an exclusive tour from the wine master himself. Then we sat on the patio soaking up the sun, sharing a bottle of cabernet sauvignon and savoring the bread and cheese we’d gotten earlier that day. It was pretty much perfect.
There are still a couple stops left on our whirlwind Mexican food tour…. stay tuned.
