Bludso’s BBQ! Yet another Yelp gem. On Sunday after checking out the Long Beach Flea Market, we made the drive over to Compton to try what many have claimed is LA’s best BBQ. Now, to be fair, there are a couple places we still have to try before we can confirm that claim….buuut….we’re pretty convinced.
If you haven’t figured it out yet we here at GBM love nature. Granted, we are city slickers and are not outdoorsmen per se, but we think animals and plants are just dandy. I grew up on a steady diet of Discovery nature documentaries – Wild Discovery – that’s what I’m talkin’ about.
Sunday was the start of Discovery’s new 11-part mini series Life. It’s narrated by Oprah Winfrey and all I can think about is O shouting in true Oprah talk show fashion “Who wants a Baboooooon!!! Well, Yelp has come through for us once again. On Saturday we finally got down to Sunset Junction to try the 5-star awesomeness that is Ricky’s Fish Tacos. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and we arrived at Ricky’s rather ravenous. The fish tacos hit the spot, y’all! Perfectly crispy, perfectly seasoned, plus amazing fresh salsas and sauces. It was the best fish taco either of us had either eaten… and we’ve had a lot of fish tacos.
We picked up these awesome wicker Mies van der Rohe MR Lounge Chairs from a cubism artist in Culver City this morning. He kindly gave us a quick tour of his wonderful 2 bedroom mid-c home filled with modern art and furniture, before we stole the chairs for $40 – for the pair! God bless Craigslist!!! I’m not totally sure if they are authentic and the seller wasn’t sure either, but he did do a lot of his collecting from estate sales which often increases your chances of legitimacy. The walls of Pio Pio Restaurant in NYC have my creative juices flowing. Not exactly sure what I have in mind, but my mother can attest – I’ve always loved me a good stick. I’m thinking some kind of wall installation. Maybe the bedroom.
