Hey hey hey! Fresh new mix ready for y’all to nosh on. Buon Appetito!
I was so excited yesterday when Amy over on All the Mountians posted a video featuring French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s installation for The Curve at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. Little African Finches play an intricate role in Céleste’s pieces, acting as catalyst for amazing reactions – like strumming randomly on an electric guitar in the video below. Plus they are just so darn cute.
Along with last weekend’s birthday festivities, I made a trip to the Los Angeles Natural History Museum with the sis and her BF. Continue reading…
Other than, well, each other, Bad to the Bone might just be the love of our lives. We love their BBQ so much that we got them to cater our wedding. They delivered the meaty, saucy, cheesy goodness to L.A. all the way from San Juan Capistrano. We are die-hard fans and if loving Bad to the Bone this much is wrong, we don’t wanna be right!
So what should you order if you’re lucky enough to pay BTTB a visit? Well, you can’t go wrong with any of their meats but we love the tri-tip, ribs, and pulled pork. All the sides are great, too. Sweet potato fries, baked beans, potato salad… and my sweet heavens, the mac ‘n cheese. Don’t even get me started on the mac ‘n cheese. It is the world’s most perfect food. Just order it, and you can thank us later.
Bonus: they feature locally-brewed beers from the Capistrano Brewing Company. The Hefeweizen is fantastic.

I love the bold colors and retro aesthetic of Patrick Hruby’s screen prints. He’s done typographic work for Urban Outfitters and has an Etsy shop too. See more of his amazing work after the jump: Continue reading…
I received a pair of black leather Zuriick Caldwells for Christmas and love them. I saw that they added a great new premium line to their collection this season. If I didn’t drop some serious coin on my birthday present (thank you Uncle Sam), I would be seriously considering the black and grey Shügs above. See more from Zuriick’s stylish new line after the jump: Continue reading…
I’m not feeling too great, so I’m drinking lots of OJ and getting lots of rest. I’m sure Curt can keep y’all entertained for the next day or two while I recuperate.

P.S. Are there ice cubes in that orange juice? Who does that?
The Electro Wars Final Trailer from Dir. Stephen Alex Vasquez on Vimeo.
It is unquestionable that the Electro genre has reached a broader American audience in the last two years. I am determined to document the scene and its participants, show the inner workings of the genre and what it will eventually evolve into. The notion to document this genre was conceived in 2008 after reading a blog post with the same title ‘Electro Wars’ featured on the Hipster Runoff. The post was a sarcastic outlook on electro/house artists in the United States and Europe, and their impact on mainstream music here in the United States. I found a substantial concept within the snarky commentary and decided to assemble these “electro soldiers”. It seems that every other day a new remix is popping up on the blogosphere, how does this affect marketing for other independent artists? Do they welcome the remixes or oppose them? Is music overload possible? What will eventually happen when all these budding producers grab a hold of a Pro Tools tutorial and develop their own remixes week in and week out? Will the remix itself become obsolete? Will original tracks have to step up to the forefront rather than recede into the background? Themes of this nature are explored in the film.
